Pep Guardiola Attacks Old Club Barcelona Over Bernardo Silva Move

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has criticised his former club Barcelona over attempts to lure Bernardo Silva to Spain this summer.

Silva was a significant member of City’s treble-winning squad, single-handedly dismantling Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League semi-final.

The Portuguese star has, however, been strongly linked with a summer transfer away from the Etihad Stadium.

Barcelona seemed to be in the lead, but they have not yet submitted a proposal for Silva.

And Guardiola has now slammed his former side: “I don’t want any players who don’t want to be here. I want to work with guys who want to stay.

“But we need a proper offer, we didn’t… If they want him, they’ll get on a plane and speak to our sporting director…”

City are also desperately trying to hold onto Kyle Walker, with Guardiola’s side reportedly labelling a second contract offer to the full-back with growing interest from Bayern Munich.

They have also strengthened over the transfer window with Mateo Kovacic arriving from Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol looking all but complete from RB Leipzig.

City are back in action over the weekend when they face off with Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley.
