Pep Guardiola believes Kevin De Bruyne Must Make A Decision On His Future With Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has insisted that Kevin De Bruyne make his own decision on his future with Manchester City.

The 33-year-old will be out of contract in the summer following a decade with the club, during which he established himself as one of the best midfielders in Premier League history.

But the Belgian’s abilities look to be waning, and his performance in Sunday’s 2-0 home loss to Liverpool garnered criticism. He has only played the full 90 minutes seven times this season due to injuries, starting 12 of 25 league games and scoring two goals and six assists. Reported By Standard News.

De Bruyne has been linked with a lucrative move to Major League Soccer, but he may also remain with City for another season, although with a reduced role and salary to reflect it.

Last week, Guardiola discussed his tight bond with a player who joined City a year before him.

When asked if that friendship will be important in deciding De Bruyne’s future, Guardiola replied, “Nothing will alter about it. Of fact, we know each other very well and are quite open about it.

“I believe the most essential thing in that situation is for him to make a decision. He’s entirely honest with himself about how he feels and what he can do in the next stage of his life. He’ll be 34 this summer and must make a decision, as David Silva did.”

De Bruyne is one of several members of City’s older generation whose futures are uncertain following reports of a possible clear-out this summer as part of an ongoing renovation.
