Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted he is considering some “ridiculous” ideas ahead of his side’s derby clash with Manchester United.
Manchester City are preparing for a League Cup match against Southampton on Wednesday, but they also have a derby against Manchester United this weekend.
Given the short turnaround between games, Guardiola has been forced to consider a lineup surprise at Old Trafford in order to keep his players fresh.
However, City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that he has yet to review United’s recent games in order to formulate a firm game plan.
Guardiola said; “I would say the game against Chelsea I made a lot of changes for one reason, how tired I saw some players after the game, for the trip we arrived too late and I saw the players tired in training and these ones that didn’t play against Chelsea.”.
“I have a few ideas, thoughts – ridiculous ones against United – but still I didn’t watch their last games,” Guardiola told reporters as per GOAL.
“I have to see the way they play at home and if they change something. Still have to review it; that is why I don’t have a clear lineup [yet] against United.”

Guardiola has been known to tinker with his starting lineups and formations in big games. City defeated United without a striker in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final in January 2020.
However, his decision to play without a holding midfielder in the 2020-21 Champions League final against Chelsea backfired, as his team lost 1-0.
The reigning Premier League champions will play Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, followed by a match against Tottenham five days later.
