Following his latest Manchester City triumph, Pep Guardiola didn’t waste the opportunity to take a brutal dig at Premier League officials.
On Wednesday night, City overcame Sevilla, the reigning champion of the Europa League, in a game decided by penalties. Youssef En-Nesyri gave Sevilla the lead in the opening period, but promising teenager Cole Palmer drew even to force a shootout.
In the seven years since he joined City, Guardiola has now claimed 15 victories.
The Spaniard has won five Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, and the Champions League in Manchester in addition to the European Super Cup.

Nevertheless, Guardiola emphasized that due to their match against Newcastle on Saturday night, City wouldn’t be drinking to celebrate their European Super Cup victory.
Despite City’s obligations in Europe, the Premier League declined to schedule the game on Sunday or Monday.

Guardiola is unhappy with the Premier League’s decision and made his feelings known with a sarcastic dig after City’s victory against Sevilla.
His team have already played three competitive games this season, if the Community Shield is included.
Guardiola confirmed City will have “not one drop of alcohol” before adding: “(We’ll) recover as much as possible because again, from Greece, thank you so much to the Premier League to let us play on Saturday and not on Sunday or Monday.
“Thank you so much.”
Despite being annoyed at the schedule, Guardiola was delighted to win another trophy. He added: “I would say of course we are not in the best, best moment, but knowing the players and the mentality of the backroom staff, I had a feeling that we will try.
