Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly plans on leaving the Premier League and European champions at the end of his contract in 2025.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager finally put an end to years of Champions League heartbreak with the Citizens on Sunday, guiding them to a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in Istanbul.
Guardiola’s squad won the Premier League and the FA Cup in the 2022-23 season, completing a domestic and continental treble.
The Sky Blues were the first English side to win all three domestic and continental titles since Manchester United in 1999, and early in the season, Guardiola signed a new deal at the Etihad until the end of the 2024-25 season.
The 51-year-old was reportedly courted by Brazilian clubs before dedicating the remaining two years of his career to the Citizens, but according to The Guardian, he intends to resign once his contract expires.
According to the report, Guardiola’s crew was skeptical if he would even sign his latest Man City extension, and some anticipated him to leave once his initial three-year term with Man City expired in 2019.
Guardiola, who has already found success in England, Germany, and Spain, was supposed to be interested in a stay in Italy, but the Catalan coach might instead try his hand at international management.

The 51-year-old has won 14 trophies in his seven seasons as manager, an average of two each year, including five Premier League crowns, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, and the Champions League.
Guardiola has led Man City to 305 victories, 49 draws, and 59 defeats in 413 games, and the Citizens have scored over 1,000 competitive goals since he arrived at the Etihad.
