Pep Guardiola ‘Splits From Wife’ Despite 30 Years Of Marriage

According to Spanish media, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his long-term partner Cristina Serra have split up. It was reported in 2019 that Serra had returned to Barcelona with one of their three children, that the pair had broken up after more than five years.

Despite their split, Guardiola and Serra are claimed to be on good terms, according to the Mirror, and were spotted together at the theatre with one of their daughters over Christmas.

The couple met in 1994 while Guardiola was a player for Barcelona, but they did not marry until 2014 in an intimate wedding. They have three children: Maria and Valentina, and Marius.

Since Serra’s return to Barcelona in 2019, the couple has mostly lived apart, with Guardiola residing in Manchester and his wife alternating between Spain and the UK. However, they have been seen together on numerous occasions. This news coincides with City’s recent upturn in form, as they have won their last three games in all competitions.

However, they appear to be without club captain Kyle Walker for the second half of the season, after he stated his wish to depart the Etihad. Milan clubs AC and Inter are both thought to be keen, and he has also been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

Guardiola stated he does not know if the England right-back will play for City again. It depends on how we plan to train. It depends on him.

In His Words?

“I told Kyle that it was now a market question. He is a fantastic player with tremendous physicality, and when he is focused, he is unstoppable as a right back.

“He’s an elite player. If he remains fit, he can play professionally for another one, two, three, or four years. I’ve never seen a player with these physical characteristics throughout my career.

“If he wants to move away, the club will look into it, and he will make the decision, not me. This is not my decision. But he needs to reach an arrangement with the club.”
