Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is sure that Barcelona will stay in LaLiga and there will be no independence for Catalonia.
It comes at a time of heightened tension in the region of Catalonia over an attempted independence referendum that was backed by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and led to question marks over his future with the Spain national team.
“I think that the best players should be in the national team and that they are united with a good atmosphere,” said Perez.”To tell you the truth that is what I’ve seen over the past few games.”I cannot imagine a Spain without Catalonia and LaLiga without Barcelona.
“Maybe it is the time though to take a look at our model.”
Meanwhile, Perez believes it is understandable that Real have not been able to keep up the blistering start to the season.
“Maybe we concentrated too much on winning the European trophies and you relax a bit which leads to a team beating you at Bernabeu,” he claimed.
“No one likes that but it is not possible to be playing every week, Wednesday and Sunday at top speed.”
Perez is happy with the work done by Zinedine Zidane while he also believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is relaxed regarding an investigation into his tax affairs.
“Zidane has transformed Real Madrid. Sometimes as it is with football, you appoint a coach and it doesn’t work out but Zidane has been fantastic,” he stated.
“Ronaldo is calm because he is someone who is focused on something: his profession.”He has his conscience clear having not done anything and no reason to hide. He has dedicated everything to win Ballon d’Ors.
