Gerard Pique has confirmed that his love for Manchester United is too strong for him to ever consider a move to Manchester City, even with Pep Guardiola set to takeover at the Etihad.
Pique, 29, spent four years at Old Trafford joining the club in 2004 and then rejoining his boyhood club Barcelona in the summer of 2008.
Since moving back to the Camp Nou, the Spainard has been transformed into a world class defender and many will argue he’s the best ball-playing centre- back in Europe.
Pique has been immensely successful during his second stint at Barcelona, winning five La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and three Copa del Rey trophies.
However, despite Guardiola, the manager who brought him back to the Camp Nou, set to take charge at Man City, Pique has confirmed he loves Manchester United too much to ever play for the Citizens.
When asked about his next move, Pique is quoted by Goal as saying: “I’d try another League in the future, when I have only a few years of my career left.
“Maybe [the United States of] America, but no-one knows what will happen in the future.
“My love for [former club Manchester] United is too strong to go to City, so I don’t see myself in their shirt, even though Pep is a great coach.”
Pique scored his first La Liga goal of the season yesterday during Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Sevilla at the Camp Nou.
Furthermore, the classy defender made four defensive Actions – only Jeremy Mathieu managed more (10) for the La Liga holders.
Meanwhile, Pique’s former club picked up a priceless 3-2 win over Arsenal on Sunday, young Marcus Rashford was the star of the show scoring a brace and assisting Ander Herrera’s strike.
