Pitts seals Wakefield return

Second-row Jay Pitts has rejoined former club Wakefield Trinity on a two-year deal following his departure from the London Broncos. The 30-year-old began his Super League career with Trinity back in 2008 and he made 22 appearances for the club over the next two years before going on to represent Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC, Bradford Bulls and most recently the Broncos, where he has spent the last three years. Pitts captained London upon their return to Super League, although he was unable to help them avoid a swift return back to the Championship, which was sealed following their 19-10 defeat to Wakefield on the final day of the regular season. However, Pitts will still be a Super League player in 2020 after rejoining Wakefield and he admits it was an easy decision to return to his hometown club. “To have the opportunity to come back here where it all started is massive for me and all of my family,” Pitts was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “I’m Wakefield born and bred so it’s really special. I’ve always kept my eye on Wakefield.” Trinity boss Chris Chester is certainly looking forward to working with Pitts, who is the second former Broncos player to move to Belle Vue during the close season following on from the arrival of Alex Walker. “There was always a willingness to get Jay back to Wakefield and it was a pretty easy deal to get done,” Chester confirmed. “I see some real good leadership from him and that’s the reason I wanted to bring him in. I think he’s been exceptional for London Broncos. He can play on the left and on the right too.”
