Pochettino doubts January additions

Mauricio Pochettino says he isn’t planning to bring in any new faces in January as he is happy with his current Spurs squad. Tottenham have endured a tough start to the season and sit in ninth place in the Premier League table with 11 points from eight games so far, 13 points adrift of pacesetters Liverpool.
Spurs reached the Champions League final last season but have struggled in the tournament in the early stages of the campaign and they sit at the bottom of Group B with one point from two games after being hammered 7-2 by Bayern Munich in London in their last European outing.
It has been suggested Pochettino could dip into the January market in a bid to turn Spurs’ season around if they are still struggling when the winter window opens but the manager has played down the speculation. “I believe in the players we have, I believe in the players that are at Tottenham today,” the Argentine coach told reporters. “I respect all opinions and I know they’ll be people that are going to say ‘we need to change or ‘we need to do something in or out’ but if it’s my decision, I’m going to stick with my players because I know they have the quality.”
Pochettino could soften his stance on new faces if any of his key men sustain injuries between now and the January window, or if any of his current players depart.
Playmaker Christian Eriksen continues to be linked with an exit, with Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich among his reported suitors, and, as his contract expires next summer, Spurs may well decide to sanction a sale in January.
Celtic are believed to be keen on Victor Wanyama, while Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose have also been tentatively linked with exits.
Pochettino may not have any concrete plans to splash out in January but he could yet be tempted to strengthen in the New Year if the situation in North London changes.
