Pogba describes his return to Manchester United as ‘destiny’

Paul Pogba admits he listened to his mum as he sealed a £100m return to Manchester United on Tuesday that he described as ‘destiny’.

The French international’s Old Trafford move was made official in the early hours of Tuesday morning after he arrived at the club’s AON Training Complex for a medical on Monday.

And the former Juventus midfielder has admitted in his first interview since returning to England that it feels like his four-year stay in Serie A was only a holiday.

Speaking to MUTV, the club’s TV channel, the 23-year-old said: ‘There are no words to be honest, there are no words. I just came back to Carrington, it was like I just came back home.

‘It looks like I went for a holiday and I’ve come back home. I’m happy and I see everyone, the same people, just a great feeling to be honest.

‘I think it is destiny. First my mum told me I would come back here. I told her, you never know, we’ll see.

‘For myself it’s a big challenge to come back to where I come from, to where I grew up and where I started. I didn’t finish what I started here, so I think I came to finish everything.

They say your mum is always right, so she was right this time. That’s good.’

Despite breaking the world transfer record, previously held by Gareth Bale’s £86m switch to Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013, United’s new No 6 is only interested in doing his talking on the pitch.

‘I only think about the pitch’, he said. ‘I want to do great. I want to be one of the best. I want to win titles, I want to achieve things. That’s what I came here, to do this and become one of the best and to win titles.

‘I know this club has to win titles, to win things to win big things. That’s what I’m focused on, just this. I’m ready to go and work on that, and just kill it.’
