Manchester United could welcome back Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic this weekend against Newcastle.
Jose Mourinho has been quiet on a potential return for both, but the pair have resumed full training with the group and appear set to hand him a timely boost.
Pogba has been absent since September with a hamstring problem, while Ibrahimovic suffered knee ligament damage at the end of last season.
The pair could be named on the bench for Saturday’s game at Old Trafford, report the Sun, and while Pogba’s return to the starting XI is inevitable, Ibrahimovic’s is less certain.
The presence of Romelu Lukaku could limit the Swede to an impact role, though his return to fitness will heighten the pressure on the Belgian after his recent goal draught.
Marcos Rojo is also closing in on a return to action after a knee problem.
United face Basel midweek in the Champions League with Mourinho welcoming increased numbers to cope with the schedule and narrow the eight-point gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
