Matteo Politano considered a proposal from Al Shabab, a Saudi team, but he is expected to turn it down and stay with Napoli. According to Fabrizio Romano, he and the club have resumed talks to extend his contract, and things should go well (via Il Mattino).
According to the Cult of Calcio, The winger had always been hesitant to leave because he wanted to play one more season with the Azzurri. The emerging league did, however, make an alluring offer: €7 million in salaries per year for the following three seasons. However, he’s prepared to rejoin his present team.
Politano’s contract expires in 2025, so Napoli and the player should reach an agreement pretty quickly. Two more years could be added by the team.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Scudetto winners are currently searching the market for a replacement in the same position. Their offer for Cyril Ngonge was not as high as Hellas Verona’s €11/12M asking price. They want to close the deal as soon as possible after making a move for Hamed Traoré.

Our Thoughts on Politano and Napoli
While moving to Saudi Arabia might have made sense in other situations—Leonardo Spinazzola, for example—it wouldn’t have made sense for him to do so other than for financial reasons, as he had been waiting a few years to get the leading role he had been dreaming of.
Although Jesper Lindstrom hasn’t done well thus far, they have made a significant investment in him, and kids sometimes just need time. They shouldn’t put a right winger high on their priority list because Traoré is more adaptable.
