Popular Football Pundit Compares Kai Havertz To Roberto Firmino After Victory At Old Trafford

Gary Neville, following up on another outstanding performance at Old Trafford, compared Kai Havertz to a Liverpool icon from the Jurgen Klopp era.

As he continues to thrive under Mikel Arteta, the adaptable German international set up Leandro Trossard for the game’s lone goal, bringing his season total to 19 Premier League appearances.

Mail Online observes that Havertz received a lot of mockery after his summertime £65 million transfer from crosstown rivals Chelsea after missing a number of excellent opportunities.

Nevertheless, he has changed things at the Emirates and is now a devoted fan favorite, making fun of his critics with a chant of his own in north London.

Neville, a pundit, seems to be a big supporter of Havertz’s work, likening the “important” position he is playing to that of a key Liverpool player from the previous decade.

Gary Neville Compares Havertz To Firmino

Neville commented on Sky Sports, “Havertz is doing something similar to what [Roberto] Firmino did at Liverpool.”

“He enters the game, connects the play, and creates a goal threat.” However, during a game, he will do anything the team needs because he is obedient to them.

Keep in mind that Havertz was largely under suspicion this season, but he has since emerged as a significant player.

Firmino used to be a fantastic player for Liverpool, in my opinion. The primary accolades and credit used to go to [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah.

That’s correct, but I used to constantly bring up Firmino because of the way he linked the offense and midfield in his play. Havertz is acting in a like manner.

Throughout the 2023–24 campaign, Havertz has been used in both attacking midfield and central striker situations, demonstrating his versatility.

Like Firmino did during his trophy-filled Liverpool era, the German plays more of a false nine, dropping deep to link midfield and attack, but he can still make an impact.

In addition, he has shown himself to be a willing runner for the Gunners, covering a lot of territory. Given Arsenal’s well-established superiority in set pieces, he also possesses an aerial presence.

Havertz acknowledged that he would only be supporting Spurs for that one night alone, since his team needs a favor from their bitter rivals Tottenham on Tuesday night to win the Premier League for the first time in 20 years.

“On Tuesday, I’m going to become the biggest Tottenham fan ever.” Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday night, he said, “Let’s hope for the best. We all are going to be.”

Arsenal will have a significant edge over Everton in their season finale if they draw or win against Tottenham.
