President Joan Laporta has evaluated the latest market movements, including the signing of Lewandowski and has stated that the club would add more players during the summer transfer window.
However, the La Liga club has already made four high-profile signings, with Robert Lewandowski joining Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, and Raphinha.
Although Barcelona hopes to offset some of their expenditure by selling Frenkie de Jong and several marginal players, those deals, particularly the former, remain far from certain.
Nonetheless, Barcelona has been linked with a number of defenders, including Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
In an interview with former player Hristo Stoichkov, Laporta stated that the plan is to add more players to Xavi’s squad in the following weeks.

According to Marca, Laporta said: “We want to make a competitive team, give Xavi the tools to have a good team and I think we are on the right track.
“My dream is for Barca to become a world reference again and we are working for it. If the economy doesn’t recover it will be very difficult.
“We are achieving it, but we have to work even harder. Football doesn’t wait. We have to do it now. With [Ousmane] Dembele, Raphinha, Lewandowski, [Franck] Kessie, Auba [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang], Ferran [Torres]… I think Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff are doing a good job.
“Now it’s time to work on defense. Xavi has us focused on a series of players and I hope that the Catalans can take some more joy.”
Despite having a release clause in the range of £69 million and competing interest from Chelsea, Kounde is likely to be the priority.
The Premier League club are reportedly confident of landing the 23-year-old, but a bid in excess of £50 million from Barcelona will force them to compete for the France international’s signature.
