Promotion-chasing QPR the place to be for Wells

Nahki Wells has reiterated his desire to stay permanently at Queens Park Rangers as they could be playing Premier League football next season. The 29-year-old is enjoying a new lease of life in his second loan stint at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, having rejoined from Burnley in the summer.
The Bermuda international has formed an excellent strike partnership with Jordan Hugill up front for the R’s, netting a combined 15 Championship goals between them, eight of which have come from Wells to already equalled his goal tally for the whole of last season.
Wells and Hugill’s strikes have left the west London outfit in the mix with a play-off spot heading into the winter, with Mark Warburton’s men sitting four points adrift of sixth-placed Bristol City.
Wells’ form up front for QPR has reportedly attracted the interest of other Championship sides, with speculation last week suggesting a move to Birmingham City could be on the cards in January.
Rangers appear the only club for Wells, though, reiterating his intent to remain long-term with the club ahead of his contract at Burnley expiring at the end of the season.
When asked by talkSPORT about if he’d like to stay at QPR, Wells replied: “Yeah, of course. I’m just taking it one week at a time and I’m just focused on trying to come together and reach the goal that we all want, and that’s trying to finish in the play-offs and get promoted because there’s a real belief that is possible.”
Wells went on to rule out moving on from QPR mid-season, claiming he intends to see out his season-long loan.
However, his fate in January could be taken out of his hand,s with Burnley likely to be keen to recoup some of the £5million they paid Huddersfield for his signature in the summer of 2017.
He has no future at Turf Moor after managing just 10 appearances for the club since crossing the Pennines.
