After joining from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, Nkunku signed a six-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2029.
The Frenchman, who has made 41 appearances for the Blues, primarily as a substitute, and has 15 goals to date, cost Chelsea £52 million.
Barcelona was reportedly on Nkunku’s lengthy list of lovers abroad, according to recent reports from Spain.
Manchester United has also been mentioned as a potential suitor for the 27-year-old.
But Chelsea wants to keep its player despite increasing interest from outside parties, reports Daily Mail.
Chelsea boss Maresca was asked by reporters earlier this season if Nkunku was unhappy at his lack of playing time.
Maresca replied: ‘Not at all. I spoke with Christo days ago and he did not say he is not happy.’
‘Probably the best moment for Christo with us has been in pre-season, playing in his position. Since we started, he is playing as a nine for us.
‘Against City, he played as a winger; knowing this is not his best position. His best position is as a 10 but Cole is playing there. We need balance.’
