Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made contact with Philippe Coutinho’s representatives with regard to a move next summer.
Liverpool rejected three approaches from Barcelona during the summer but will likely have to take similar action in the January window.
While Coutinho’s first choice destination remains the Camp Nou, Ligue 1 giants PSG are hopeful that summer signing Neymar can help persuade his compatriot to join him in Paris.
According to SPORT, Coutinho is top of PSG’s wishlist as they look to continue their eye-watering spending in the market.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reportedly committed to signing the 25-year-old after Neymar’s suggestion and is willing to pay an estimated £135 million.
Coutinho and Neymar are close friends from their time in the national team and have both previously stated their desire to play together at club level.
Catalan newspaper Sport reports that Barca trio Pep Segura, Robert Fernandez and Ernesto Valverde are currently discussing whether or not they should move for Coutinho again in January and whether they stand a chance of getting him.
The report states that PSG have made contact with Coutinho’s agents but cannot try and sign him until the summer due to financial fair play.
This may encourage Barcelona to make their move in January rather than risk a bidding war next summer.
