PSG More Stable Without Mbappe – Henry

Thierry Henry has reportedly claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are now solid following the departure of Kylian Mbappe in the last summer transfer window.

The Premier League legend also admitted that the team have ‘lost a bit of magic’ after the 25-year-old exited the club.

Luis Enrique, who watched his PSG side falter to a 1-1 draw against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, could have used someone of Mbappe’s caliber in attack. Despite battling back from a 1-0 deficit, PSG failed to produce a winner despite having 26 shots on goal, including 18 in the second half.

Given the outcome, the Ligue 1 giants need to improve if they want to automatically advance to the round of 16. They are currently in 17th place, several slots below the desired top eight, with four points from their first three games.

Though things are better in France, where PSG lead Ligue 1 after winning all eight of their games. According to Goal, Henry thinks Mbappe’s departure has affected their capacity to convert close games, like the match against PSV, into victories.

“I think they are a team. They are a bit more stable, less counters. But they still lost Mbappe,” the former Arsenal striker said on CBS Sports Golazo.

“It’s very difficult. For example in a game like that, Kylian can turn it into a 2-1 or a winning goal towards the end, a moment of magic.

“He can turn it around. You lost a bit of magic but the team looks a bit more sound in terms of balance. But obviously the result is not good enough.”
