Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted that Neymar will not be leaving the club in the summer despite being heavily linked with a big-money move back to La Liga.
Real Madrid have been touted as the most likely destination for the Brazilian but any club wanting to sign him will have to break the bank, considering his hefty price tag of £200million and a contract that runs through until 2022.
However, Al-Khelaifi is ‘certain’ the 26-year-old will not be going anywhere any time soon after telling reporters that the player himself is ‘tired of the rumours’.
When asked whether Neymar will see out the remainder of his contract, the PSG president told L’Equipe: ‘It’s certain. I have repeated myself 10,000 times. He will stay.
‘His [Neymar’s] father told me, “his future is in Paris”. Neymar is tired of the rumours on his future. It is the Spanish media that are saying it. If you believe them then too bad for you.
‘I am not going to respond to this question another time. He has a four-year contract.’
The Qatari businessman refused to revealed whether he had spoken to Neymar directly about the issue, saying: ‘Do you think I am going to tell you the contents of of the exchanges I have with the players?’
The prolific forward was absent for Unai Emery’s last game in charge of the club as the French champions played out a goalless stalemate with Caen on Saturday.
