In September, the Portuguese maestro extended his contract at the Etihad until 2026. It is said that the agreement includes a release provision, hanging a carrot for possible suitors. According to reports, the clause will go into effect this summer.

Only a few months after Monaco eliminated City from the Champions League, Silva joined City. Since then, the 29-year-old has become as one of Pep Guardiola’s greatest midfield players of his generation, having been an absolute revelation.
With Silva playing every minute of the FA Cup and Champions League finals, he achieved an unprecedented treble last season, among his astounding twelve honors. However, he has never been able to avoid rumors about a potential transfer.
The Saudi Pro League also showed interest in the City talisman last year, and Barcelona had previously been linked to a deal for him. When questioned prior of the Club World Cup, Silva refuted rumors that a move to the Middle East was planned.
“The Saudi League’s improvement has been massive,” he said. “It’s because of the investment and from what we hear it’s not going to stop. Future in Saudi? For now, I’m focused on City, very happy playing European football, which in my opinion is the highest level.”
