Rakitic wants to stay at Barca despite Inter option

Ivan Rakitic is ready to battle for his place at Barcelona following the latest rumours linking him with a move away from Camp Nou. The Croatia midfielder is having a tough season with Barca having slipped down the pecking and rumours have again surfaced suggesting he could be on the move in the January transfer window.
The latest have suggested that Barca will try and engineer a swap deal with Inter Milan that will see Rakitic and Arturo Vidal heading to the San Siro, with Lautaro Martinez heading the other way.
Martinez is said to be a top target for Barca, but the £173million release clause is on the heavy side, even for the Catalan giants, hence their keenness to sort a swap deal.
For that to happen, Rakitic would have to agree to a move to Inter, and for now at least, he does not look like accepting.
In a defiant message on twitter, Rakitic posted pictures of himself training on Tuesday, with the caption: “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
It is a clear indication that Raktic is ready to fight for his place despite all the rumours surrounding his future with Barca.
Frenkie de Jong, Arthur and Sergio Busquets have emerged as Ernesto Valverde’s preferred three in the middle of the park, and, unless injury strikes, Rakitic looks unlikely to get a game.
A move to Inter is nothing to be sniffed at, but the player seems determined to fight for his place for now.
