Ramos reignites war of words with Pique after seeing red for two-footed foul on Messi

Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos continued their feud on Sunday night long after the final whistle was blown on an extraordinary Clasico.

The Madrid man’s red card helped cost his team three points and Pique said: ‘Ramos is going to regret that challenge when he gets home.

‘They are used to very permissive refereeing here and when it doesn’t go that way the referee is the bad guy.’

Ramos responded: ‘I have seen the foul again. In no moment did I want to hurt the player. He hurdled the challenge and there was no contact.

‘The sending off affected the game. Now I do not want to get involved in Pique’s game.’

It maybe too late for that with Ramos appearing to clap Pique as he left the field.

He also went head to head with referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez although it was not mentioned in the match official’s report.

Neymar was given a three-game ban for sarcastic applause two weeks ago but Ramos may escape the same punishment because his clapping was aimed at Pique and not the referee.

He accused his Spain team-mate of influencing the referee in the build-up to the game.

He said: ‘Perhaps with so much tweeting and pressure he ends affecting the referees.’

Marcelo admitted his team-mate was devastated after picking up the second-half red card.

‘He is very annoyed,’ the full-back said. ‘He knows it was tough when we were a man down. He wanted to help and he could not.’

Luis Enrique preferred to concentrate on Lionel Messi’s exploits. He said: ‘He is decisive even when his at home eating his dinner. He is the greatest player in history.’
