Arsenal can’t afford any more slip-ups if they want to be crowned champions of England this season, Aaron Ramsey has stated.
The Gunners went top of the Premier League table – albeit temporarily – at the start of December following a 3-1 victory over Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium and were looking a good bet to sustain a title challenge.
However, back-to-back losses in the space of five days against Everton and Manchester City – games in which they took the lead in – saw them lose significant ground in the title race and Ramsey believes there is now little room for error.
“It’s going to be tight,” he told Arsenal Player. “The top six teams at the moment aren’t dropping many points, so it’s going to be tight and we’ll have to stay focused to be ready for every game.
“It’s going to go right down to the wire and we don’t want to have any slip ups which might cost us in the end.
“It’s important for us to stay focused in every game.”
Following a 3-3 draw against Bournemouth in their last league outing, the north London outfit trail leaders Chelsea by eight points heading into Saturday’s clash against relegation threatened Swansea City.
Anything but maximum points at the Liberty Stadium would not only severely dent Arsenal’s title hopes even further but also create doubt as to whether Arsene Wenger can steer the side to another top four finish come the end of the season.
