Rashford discusses his rivalry with Martial for a place in Man United first XI

Marcus Rashford has opened up about his friendly rivalry with Manchester United teammate Anthony Martial, claiming the pair help each other improve.

The 19-year-old has gone from strength to strength for the Red Devils this season, and has netted three times in all competitions for United.

Jose Mourinho has experimented by playing him on the left, which has apparently worked well, with Romelu Lukaku taking centre stage.

But Anthony Martial, a conventional left-forward, has also been in great form for Manchester United and has netted twice for the Old Trafford club.

Picking between the pair has becoming an increasingly difficult task for Mourinho, but a situation he will be pleased to be in.

Speaking about his friendly rivalry with Martial, Rashford said: “It’s difficult when you’re in and out of the team, but we have to find the positives out of it and I think we have both done that.

“I think the competition is always positive competition because we’re improving each other every day when we’re in training and in the games we’re pushing each other more and more.

“It’s a bit of a headache for the manager but it is a good headache to have.”
