England manager, Gareth Southgate has reportedly axed Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford from his Three Lions squad for the upcoming 2024 European Championship in Germany as he called up five uncapped young and in-form players.
Along with Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, who started 2024 as a Championship player with Blackburn, and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite at center back, the 33-man group also includes the uncapped Liverpool duo of Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones.
Henderson has 81 caps and was the vice captain of England. He hasn’t missed a major tournament since the 2010 World Cup. But this season hasn’t been easy. He started out at Al-Ettifaq but left after six months to sign with Ajax.
Up until making the shocking decision to leave out both Rashford and the midfielder, Southgate had remained faithful to them both despite their struggles at the club level.

Having played in all three of Southgate’s major tournament squads for England, Rashford has not started a game since the FA Cup semifinal last month.
The 26-year-old has only scored eight goals for Manchester United. And he has lost his place to wingers with more successful seasons.

Anthony Gordon, Jarrod Bowen, who scored 20 goals for West Ham across all competitions, and Cole Palmer, the second-highest scorer in the Premier League, were all chosen. Rashford was not picked ahead of Jack Grealish, who has lost his spot in the Manchester City squad.
To compete against Germany, Southgate will need to reduce his roster to 26 players. But he is giving some of the younger players an opportunity to win him over and gain entry.
