Rasmus Hojlund Becomes New Man United No. 9

Rasmus Hojlund’s Manchester United shirt will have the number nine on the back starting in the 2024–25 season.

During his inaugural year as a Red, the youthful Dane donned jersey number 11, which is typically linked to legendary wingers from the past.

However, Rasmus has consented to switch to the squad number that is universally associated with the center-forward position, after Anthony Martial, the last owner of the No. 9 jersey, left.

Along with fellow countryman Christian Eriksen and goalie Tom Heaton, Rasmus returned to Carrington on Monday.

On Wednesday afternoon, the team will depart for the United States in preparation for Tour 2024, sponsored by Snapdragon.

The opening game of the trip this weekend against the Gunners may be the first time supporters see Rasmus wearing his new number, which has a legendary status in Manchester United history because of some of the great names it has stood for.

Andy Cole, the Treble champion who scored 121 goals for us between 1995 and 2001, is arguably the most adored Red to have donned the shirt during the Premier League era.

During the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson era, Louis Saha and Dimitar Berbatov also wore the shirt and assisted the squad in winning Premier League championships.

Notable players including Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Radamel Falcao have had successful stints wearing the shirt in recent years.

After moving from Serie A team Atalanta to United, Hojlund scored 16 goals in his first year, reports Man United Official Website
