Rasmus Hojlund Discovers FA’s View On Manchester United Star’s Controversial Goal Celebration

The FA will not tell Rasmus Hojlund to halt his ruthless celebration when the Manchester United striker used it again against Leicester. Hojlund, 22, performed his characteristic celebration for the first time in 2025 on Sunday, after scoring the first goal in United’s 3-0 victory.

His composed finish brought an end to 22 hours of football without a goal, and the Denmark international took full advantage of the opportunity to celebrate. Hojlund, who made his Europa League debut in November against Bodo/Glimt, went up to the United fans at Leicester and gave them a thumbs up before promptly turning it down.

Hojlund then executed a throat-slitting gesture reminiscent of the Gladiator film franchise, which had a sequel published last year. Given the criticism that some players have received for graphic celebrations, as well as the fact that English football has paid millions to assist curb violent behaviour and knife crime, there was speculation that United’s £72 million star would be in danger.

But, according to the Mail, FA chiefs have relaxed their stance on the celebration when it returned for the first time in 99 days, and they will not urge Hojlund to stop. After breaking his goal drought, the 22-year-old intends to celebrate again after the international break.

Hojlund expressed relief after scoring on Sunday, but not as much as when he waited nearly four months for his first Premier League goal in 2023. According to the Manchester Evening News, he stated, “I don’t think it was like the first time I scored against Aston Villa, but I was obviously very happy and still am.”
