Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man United Closely Monitoring 21-Year-Old Left Back

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United are reportedly tracking Benfica defender, Alvaro Carreras.

According to Portuguese publication, O’Jogo as claimed by Barca Universal, the three European giants are closely monitoring the progress of the 21-year-old.

Alvaro joined Manchester United in 2020 after rising through Real Madrid’s youth ranks. Following many loan stints, he signed a temporary contract with Benfica in January of this year, with a buyout option that the Portuguese team exercised in the summer.

Alvaro has gradually gained prominence at Benfica despite having a sluggish start. He has made 25 games so far, with one goal and one assist.

According to the report, scouts of Man United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are all gathering data and doing live observations in order to compile the final report on the youngster, which will be given to their coaches and directors.

Alvaro’s deal with Benfica is set to expire in the summer of 2029, and the Portuguese giants are renowned for demanding substantial sums for their players.

The 21-year-old Spanish youth international does, however, have a buyback option with United.

It remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag’s side will activate the clause in January or in the next summer transfer window.
