It’s interesting to note that the top 20 clubs brought in a staggering €10.5 billion in revenue overall, a 14% rise from the previous year.
How much did Real Madrid earn?
According to the report, Real Madrid earned €831.4 million, the most by any team in the world and the Los Blancos were closely followed by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who had an income of €825.9 million.
“Real Madrid have eclipsed Manchester City to become the highest-revenue-generating football club in 2022/23 for the first time since 2017/18,” read a statement from Deloitte.
“Real Madrid recorded record revenues of €831 million, an increase of €118 million compared to last year. The club’s growth can largely be attributed to strong retail performance and increased stadium attendance following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions,” it added.
With a total of €801.8 million, Paris Saint-Germain has also moved up to third place for the first time. With €800.1 million, Barcelona jumped up to fourth position. The Blaugrana improved significantly, moving up to fourth in the rankings from seventh.
It should be mentioned that Real Madrid has significantly changed their transfer policy in contrast to prior years. In that sense, Jude Bellingham, who initially cost them €103 million, was their largest summertime expenditure.
Despite such outlay, though, their net spending on player transfers since 2014 is still much less than the likes of Manchester United, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG and even Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United for that matter.
