Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Spanish U21 star Dani Ceballos from Real Betis for €18m.
The 20-year-old central midfielder has put pen to paper on a six-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Spanish giants announced on Friday morning.
Madrid activated his €15m release clause but will end up paying an extra €3m with other clauses included, according to reports in Spain.
Ceballos will be unveiled in the Los Blancos’ stadium at 12pm UK time next Thursday in his new shirt. He will then travel to the US on Friday to join up with his new teammates for pre-season training.
After making 30 La Liga appearances for Betis in the 2016/17 season, in Ceballos turned heads in this summer’s Under-21 European Championships in Poland as Spain reached the the final only to lose 1-0 to Germany.
His 38 chances created in league action was the second most in the entire Betis squad last term behind Riza Durmisi, who managed 46.
Ceballos was also on the scoresheet twice and provided two assists, but it was his take-on success rate that proved the most impressive: 79 successful from 116 attempted, a 68 per cent success rate.
