It was one of the worst kept secrets in sport, and now, Real Madrid have officially confirmed on Wednesday that they had signed Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old England international, Jude Bellingham.
Although the length of the contract and the transfer cost were not immediately disclosed on the official Real Madrid website after the announcement, various media sites, including The Guardian, stated that the player has signed a six-year contract that would keep him with the club through the year 2029.
Bellingham’s progress has been nothing short of astonishing, despite the fact that he is still only a teenager. It is an incredible show of faith from perhaps the biggest club in the world.
He transferred to Dortmund from his previous club, Birmingham City, and rapidly established himself as one of their most crucial players.

The fact that Los Blancos reportedly paid more than £100m for his acquisition illustrates how highly the Bundesliga giant regarded him.
Sky Sports News put the fee at £115m which would make him the most expensive British signing of all time.
The pressure on his shoulders will be immense, but such is his strength of character that he will arguably pass any test with flying colours.
