Real Madrid could reportedly rekindle their interest in Erling Haaland if Manchester City are punished for breaching financial rules.
The Citizens were charged with over 100 alleged Premier League violations relating to revenue, sponsorship income, and operating costs on Monday morning.
Man City have denied the charges, which have now been referred to an independent commision, but they could face stiff consequences if found guilty of the breaches.
The most severe punishments could result in Man City’s expulsion from the Premier League, triggering a mass exodus of star players from the Etihad.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation and could try again for Haaland if the Premier League champions are sanctioned.
Los Blancos were heavily linked with a move for the former Borussia Dortmund striker last year, but Man City moved to trigger the €60m (£53.2m) release clause in his BVB contract.

According to the report, Haaland is still open to a move to Real Madrid, and he is not guaranteed to stay at Man City if the champions are found to have committed any offence.
The 22-year-old has maintained his incredible form in England since leaving the Bundesliga, scoring 31 goals in just 28 games for Pep Guardiola’s team in all competitions.
Haaland has scored 25 goals in 20 Premier League appearances, unsurprisingly leading the Golden Boot charts.
City’s chances of landing Haaland will be hampered by the threat of sanctions.
As a result, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool appear to have moved to the front of the line, though Liverpool’s chances of a deal will be severely harmed if they miss out on the Champions League.
