With the departure of Xavi Hernandez, FC Barcelona will enter the upcoming season with a new coach, and the German strategist Hansi Flick is the most likely candidate to replace the former midfielder on the Catalan team’s bench.
Prior to his departure to Barcelona, the German had a highly successful career, having won a treble with Bayern Munich during his first season in charge of the Bavarian squad. And it wasn’t just the medals that made his time at Bayern unforgettable; as one of the team’s players remarked at the time, the coach’s charisma was also something the players remembered fondly.

According to Mundo Deportivo, these were the feelings of David Alaba, a Real Madrid defender who was part of Flick’s treble-winning squad. In a July interview with the German tabloid Kicker, the Austrian emphasized the incoming Barcelona coach’s relationship with the players.
“His doors are always open, he has a very positive way of leading the team that I have not seen before.”
Furthermore, the defender noted Flick’s good impact on group togetherness in the Bayern team:
“It’s the optimistic attitude he gives to the team. You can see that on the pitch; everyone takes this path, which is not always easy.”
Alaba added that Flick’s appointment had a favorable impact on the team.
“He quickly activated the’switch’ and played a crucial role. In retrospect, we realized that turning a few screws was required and effective. Hansi follows his own philosophy.”
One of the modifications that Flick made in the Bayern team after his appointment was to have Alaba play more centrally in defence, and the defender admitted that this shift helped his game even more.
