Real Madrid Deny Interest In Signing Liverpool Van Dijk

Real Madrid has rejected any interest in signing Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool. The Dutchman’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the current campaign, and there is continuous speculation about his future.

The England international’s January transfer request was turned down on New Year’s Eve, despite the La Liga powerhouses’ interest in signing Reds vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold on a Bosman move.

However, Van Dijk had an offer from Real Madrid last summer. The Dutchman had shown interest in joining the Spanish team when his contract expired.

However, Real Madrid has now denied rumors that Van Dijk was offered to them or that they were considering signing him, reports Liverpool Echo.

A Real Madrid spokesperson told 365scores: “The talk about Real Madrid’s desire to sign Liverpool player Van Dijk is incorrect.

Van Dijk is not part of our contractual plans and we have not sent an official offer to Liverpool regarding negotiations with Van Dijk.

“The player has not been offered to our club by the player’s agents, and if that happens, it will be announced through our official team channels.”

Although Van Dijk has already said that he would want to sign a new deal with Liverpool, he stated that he did not anticipate a conclusion to discussions anytime soon following the Reds’ draw with Manchester United.
