Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring the contract situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool, with a free transfer believed to be on the cards.
According to Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) as claimed by Forbes, los Blancos are willing to sign the Reds right-back and want to do so by offering him a contract as his current deal with the club expires in 2025.
“Real Madrid are monitoring Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Liverpool,” the Italian tweeted on Friday morning in Europe.
“[His[ current deal expires in June ’25 with no talks underway as of now.
“Liverpool have not indicated any desire to sell at this stage. There’s no indication of player’s views so far,” Romano added.
In September, TalkSPORT revealed that negotiations to extend Alexander-Arnold’s contract had started. Despite interest from fierce rivals FC Barcelona and Madrid.
However, neither that interest nor the negotiations with his boyhood club materialized. And in about 15 months, the Englishman will be free to join whoever he pleases.
He would also have the freedom to speak with any potential new employer at the beginning of 2025, depending on his preferences.
Before the 2025–2026 season, it’s unclear if Madrid intends to sign ‘TAA’ for nothing or try to acquire him for a reduced price this summer if they decide to make a serious move.
