Real Madrid has been plagued by injury difficulties among their players this season.
Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Jesus Vallejo, and Ferland Mendy are all now out due to physical issues, and a new name has been added to the list.
Fran Garcia is injured.
Indeed, according to MARCA, Fran Garcia has been sidelined with an injury and is now a significant question for Real Madrid’s next game against Leganes on March 29 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spaniard was injured late in the game against Villarreal, only days after losing teammate left-back Ferland Mendy to an injury during the UCL tie against Atletico Madrid.
A viral image showed the impact of the contest on Real Madrid players, who were fatigued following their efforts against Villarreal.
ude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and even replacement Vinicius Jr. struggled physically throughout the encounter. Among them was Garcia, who was spotted lying on the pitch.
His reaction remained unnoticed at first, as numerous teammates dropped on the turf after referee Gil Manzano blew the final whistle. Garcia’s anxiety, however, was caused by muscle ache in one of the game’s last minutes, rather than exhaustion.
The left-back exited the match hurt, and a member of Real Madrid’s medical staff treated him on the pitch.
Given the large number of players that required medical attention, his case did not initially raise any concerns. Garcia, however, has now been verified to have injured his left leg’s abductor muscle.
A chance for Victor Valdepenas?
With Ferland Mendy also absent and anticipated to return in time for Real Madrid’s UCL QF match against Arsenal, Real Madrid’s primary goal is to have Fran Garcia fit and ready to face Leganes immediately following the international break.
However, if he is not ready, it may create an opportunity for youngster Victor Valdepenas, an academy prospect who can play both centre-back and left-back.
One of the academy’s most highly regarded prospects, the youngster has already flown with the first team to Villarreal and could be handed an opportunity against Leganes.
