Real Madrid Hit Back At “Regime Team” Claim From Barcelona President Laporta

On Monday, Joan Laporta held a news conference to address the allegations of on-field decision-making manipulation, the Barcelona’s involvement in the Negreira story, and the payments made to the former vice-president of the referee’s committee.

However, as the Barcelona president’s interview went on, it became obvious that he was placing a lot of focus on Real Madrid while labeling them a “favoured institution.”

Laporta repeatedly emphasized in his remarks that Los Blancos were the actual club “backed by the regime” and had been given an easier path to victories and honors.

The Catalan club president’s comments did not sit well with those in Madrid, and they responded right away with a surprising weapon.

Real Madrid attacked Barcelona with proof from the past showing that they have always been the pampered squad in a brief video that is less than five minutes long and released on their social media.

The video on Twitter was centre around Francisco Franco, the military general who led the Nationalist forces in the Spanish Civil War and subsequently served as Spain’s dictator for over 35 years.

“Barcelona awarded the insignia of gold and brilliants to Franco. They made Franco an honorary member in 1965. Barcelona was saved 3 times from bankruptcy with 3 reclassifications by Franco.”

The video also highlighted how the league was designed to be won by Barcelona at that time, making it virtually impossible for the Madrid-based club to win any accolades.

“Barça won 8 La Liga’s and 9 Cups during Franco’s tenure.

“Real Madrid went 15 years without La Liga during that time. During the Civil War, Real Madrid players were m*rdered, detained or exiled.”

The Spotify Camp Nou, to this date, is synonymous with FC Barcelona and stands as their home ground and symbol. Florentino Perez’s masterstroke took a deadly shot that the stadium took with a revelation.

“The Camp Nou was inaugurated by the General Minister of Franco.”

The video ended with a famous quote from Santiago Bernabeu, the pioneer of Real Madrid who also fought alongside Franco in the Civil War, that took a big dig at the Catalan President’s accusations.

“When I hear that Real Madrid has been the regime team, it makes me want to sh*t on the father of the one who says it.”

It would be fair to say that after yesterday’s events, the relationship between the two clubs will no longer be the same. It will be interesting to see if Laporta & co. respond to Real Madrid’s
