Atletico Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.
Currently in his seventh season under contract with Los Blancos, Ceballos has made 141 appearances across all competitions.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, the Spain international is limited to playing just 227 minutes of La Liga football this season, placing him well down the hierarchy.
Out of his 14 league games, just one has come from the starting lineup. Since the beginning of February, he has only been given three quick substitute appearances.

Ceballos has three years left on his contract and is Real Madrid’s best chance to recoup the £15.5 million they spent on him in 2017. Still, it is possible that Real and Ancelotti would prefer to keep Ceballos on staff as a backup.
Ceballos’s signature is something Atletico wants to get during the upcoming transfer window, according to Sports Mole.
Diego Simeone’s team has slowed down this La Liga season; they are currently trailing Real Madrid by 17 points in the standings.
Although the Argentine has plenty of options for central midfield, there’s a sense that the engine room needs to be refreshed before the next campaign begins with at least one new face.
Arthur Vermeeren, their high-profile January addition, will eventually contribute to that cause, but so far the young Belgian has only played 83 minutes in Spain’s top flight.
Theoretically, that suggests Simeone isn’t prepared to commit to using the prospect frequently, which might allow Atletico to consider more seasoned alternatives.
