Real Madrid Midfielder Set For Two Months Injury Lay-Off

Real Madrid midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga is set to be sidelined for eight weeks due to knee injury he sustained during training exercise with France.

The 21-year-old was called up to the France squad for their final two Euro 2024 qualification games against Gibraltar and Greece on November 18 and November 21, respectively.

He reportedly collided with Paris Saint-Germain attacker, Ousmane Dembele during a training session on Wednesday, resulting in a knee injury that has forced him to withdraw from the team.

“Eduardo Camavinga, who had to cut short his training session on Wednesday, went for exams in the evening, accompanied by Dr. Franck Le Gall, the French team doctor,” the French Football Federation said in a statement.

“The Real Madrid midfielder suffers from a sprained right knee. He was released today to his club. Didier Deschamps decided to call Khephren Thuram as reinforcement.”

According to AS as cited by Sports Mole, due to the seriousness of the issue, Camavinga may be sidelined for the next eight weeks, which would require him to miss several crucial Real Madrid matches.

According to the source, the versatile midfielder will go through additional evaluations on Thursday or Friday in order to pinpoint the precise extent of the issue, which was first thought to be minor.

With 17 appearances across all competitions, the former Rennes star has been an essential member of Real Madrid’s squad this season.

The injury blow will be more difficult for Los Blancos to absorb given that fellow French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is also out with a fractured foot.
