Real Madrid ‘Monitoring’ Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract remains unresolved, with just under a year remaining on his deal – and this could prompt Real Madrid to make a move for his services, according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the Spanish giants are still monitoring his situation ahead of a potential bid due to his contract expiring.

Alexander-Arnold has been with Liverpool’s first squad for eight years and hasn’t looked back, having made 226 Premier League appearances at the age of 25 – scoring 15 goals and registering 58 assists.

Already the vice-captain of the club he supported as a child, many believe the England international will become the club’s main captain once Virgil van Dijk relinquishes control of the armband in the future, and a new contract will be required. However, with his future still uncertain and his contract scheduled to expire next June, Romano believes Real Madrid will make a move to sign him in the future.

Romano: Real Madrid “Continue Monitoring” Alexander-Arnold

Romano added in his Daily Briefing that, while there was no immediate update on Alexander-Arnold’s future, Madrid can afford to pick off players with less than a year left on their contracts, and he is still one of them. He said:

“Sticking with Los Blancos, there’s no update on Trent Alexander-Arnold at the moment. I shared in March that Real Madrid are monitoring the situation and this remains the case, nothing fresh or new so far.

“Real Madrid are just attentive to many situations of good players with short contracts, Alexander-Arnold is one of them.”

According to BILD story on Tuesday, Real Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold is ‘concrete’, with the Reds star open to a move to the Spanish capital if their interest is followed by a formal offer.
