Real Madrid must win all five remaining league matches if they are to be crowned champions, and they are one point behind both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
That means that Los Blancos will have to beat Valencia and Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu and Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad and Deportivo La Coruna away.
To do so would be quite a feat, as Madrid have only won the last five Liga games once in the last 16 years.
That came when Jose Mourinho’s side captured the title in the 2011/2012 season, beating Barcelona, Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, Granada and Mallorca in their run-in.
If they manage to win all five remaining games, Real would also break Villarreal’s record of most consecutive wins to end the season, with eight.
Los Blancos have already won seven straight matches and they would set a new record with 12 if they achieve their target.
