Real Madrid have reportedly identified Manchester City midfielder, Rodri as a major target for the 2025 summer transfer window.
Even though the current transfer window has ended, los Blancos are already preparing for the next one, which will take place in the 2025–2026 season. According to Madrid Universal, one of Madrid’s primary objectives is to bolster their midfield by adding Rodri.
Rodri, who won MVP at Euro 2024, has a deal with City that runs through 2027. The 28-year-old hasn’t decided yet, though, whether to stay longer with the English club.
Several reports claim that Rodri is mulling between joining Real Madrid or extending his contract with the Premier League champions.
It’s no secret that the Spanish giants are interested in strengthening their midfield. Especially in light of Toni Kroos’ recent retirement, which is a big loss for the team.
The midfield would be much more depleted if Luka Modric were to depart at the end of the current campaign. Rodri would have to go back home if he accepts Madrid’s offer.
Along with Alphonso Davies, who is anticipated to join the club after turning down a contract extension with Bayern Munich, making him a free agent, he would be one of the major additions for the 2025–2026 campaign.

It should be mentioned that Transfermarkt estimates Rodri’s current value at €130 million. But Manchester City will be in a difficult spot come summertime, when Rodri will only have one year remaining on his deal.
To reduce the possibility of losing him for nothing in 2027, they will either need to extend his contract or think about selling him for less.
