Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly ready to face each other in an intense battle for the signature of River Plate teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono.
At the tender age of 16, the adaptable attacker has made his way into the Argentine club’s first squad and is generating plenty of buzz.
Madrid are among the many elite teams in Europe that have taken notice. And los Blancos are reportedly keen to sign him.
But with the Spanish capital club competing against a well-known rival for the teenage sensation, the competition for the rising star only gets stronger.
According to Mundo Deportivo as reported by Madrid Universal, Barcelona, Madrid’s fiercest rival, have also expressed interest in acquiring Mastantuono from River Plate.
The two Spanish strongholds have always kept a watch on the brightest young players emerging both domestically and abroad. And they have recently fought over the signings of players like Endrick, Arda Guler, and Pablo Torre.
Mastantuono now looks to be a target for both teams, as Real Madrid and Barca prepare for a clasico to decide who will sign the 16-year-old.
As he is believed to hold an Italian passport, either of the clubs can sign him immediately. And they do not need to wait until he turns 18 to include him in the team. Even though he is only 16 years old.
