Real Madrid Star Confirms Progress In New Contract Talks

Real Madrid’s right-back Lucas Vazquez has stated that talks for a new contract with the La Liga champions have progressed.

Madrid has numerous key players nearing the end of their contracts, including Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Nacho Fernandez, as well as loanees Kepa Arrizabalaga and Joselu.

Nacho is set to go, with rumors claiming he rejected down a transfer to Major League Soccer, but Vazquez has disclosed he is in talks about a contract extension.

“I would love to stay,” Vazquez told The Athletic. “Negotiations over my renewal are going well.”

Jude Bellingham interrupted Vazquez’s interview with a cry of ‘Cafucas’, equating the 32-year-old to renowned Brazilian Cafu.

While Vazquez’s new contract is still being worked out, the versatile 32-year-old is certain to stay in Madrid for at least another year, bringing his total time at the club to a decade since returning from Espanyol in 2015.

While Vazquez’s new contract is still being finalized, the versatile 32-year-old is expected to continue in Madrid for at least another year, increasing his total tenure at the club to a decade since joining from Espanyol in 2015.

Kroos has been offered a new one-year deal of his own and, while he is not yet believed to have shaken hands, an extension is close to being finalised to keep the German at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this summer.
