Real Madrid Star Lambasts Balon d’Or Shortlist Following Brutal Exclusion

Real Madrid forward, Rodrygo Goes has reportedly made his feelings clear as he blasted his exclusion from the 2024 Balon d’Or nomination list via an Instagram post.

On Wednesday night, the 2024 award shortlist was revealed in a dazzling ceremony. Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Harry Kane are among the anticipated names that are in the race.

Numerous Real Madrid players, like Jude Bellingham, Antonio Rudiger, Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, Vinicius Jr., and even the retired Toni Kroos, are also among the nominees. However, one notable name was absent.

Despite having a fantastic season the previous season, Brazilian wide player Rodrygo has not done enough to warrant a spot on the list.

The 23-year-old helped Real Madrid win La Liga, the Champions League, and the Spanish SuperCup by scoring 17 goals and dishing out nine assists.

According to The Mirror, Rodrygo made notice of that fact in a savage Instagram post. Taking to his story, he posted several pictures of himself showing off the many trophies he had won this season. Some even showed him in action for Real Madrid. He had also included a laughing crying emoji.

In spite of his recent grievances, Rodrygo has stated in the past that his Los Blancos teammate Vinicius Jr. is the front-runner to win the trophy, but he still hopes to win it for himself in the future.

Speaking to Globo Esporte earlier this year, he said: “We know that Vini is the main candidate to win it [Ballon d’Or] and I support this decision because he is my teammate.”

He added: “It [Ballon d’Or] is not something that’s my priority, but it’s something every player dreams of.”
