Real Madrid defender, Raul Asencio has reportedly signed a new long-term contract at the club, with his deal due to expire in June 2029.
The 22-year-old was not really on Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s radar last summer. But so far in the 2024–25 season, a number of things have worked in his favor in terms of center-back options.
Asencio’s debut for Los Blancos in November 2024 was made possible by long-term injuries to Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal, as well as fitness issues with David Alaba. Since then, he has continued to improve.
Despite Alaba’s return to fitness, Asencio has made 30 appearances for the first team so far this season, maintaining his position in the heart of the defense.

His current contract is set to expire next summer, but there has been a lot of talk about a possible new deal, so the Spaniard’s future has been a topic of conversation in recent weeks.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Asencio has now committed to a new, long-term contract with Real Madrid, which will run through the conclusion of the 2028–2029 season.
According to the Italian, the Spaniard’s pay has increased because Ancelotti sees him as an essential component of his plans for the rest of the season and beyond because of the quality of his performances since joining the first team.
