Real Madrid Star Withdraws From National Duty Through Injury

Real Madrid defender, David Alaba has reportedly withdrawn from the Austrian national for their upcoming matches team due injury.

Alaba suffered an injury in the groin during the Los Blancos’ La Liga match against Las Palmas almost two weeks ago, and he has since missed three games.

The Austrian defender did not play against Girona and Osasuna in La Liga. He also sat out the match against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League in between those two league contests.

Following his injury, it was anticipated that Alaba would recover quickly. Ralf Rangnick had also selected Alaba for the Austria team.

According to Madrid Universal, the national team announced the decision on their official X account on Monday.

In the next ten days or so, Austria will take on Belgium and Azerbaijan in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying rounds. And Alaba’s absence will be noticed because the 31-year-old is their captain and key player.

Alaba’s recovery is anticipated being complete in time for Real Madrid’s match against Sevilla following the break in international play.

Madrid are currently top of the Laliga standings and they hope to have Alaba fit as soon as possible to keep their impressive start to the season intact.

They are also top of their champions league group with six points after two matches. Victories over Union Berlin and Napoli ensured the 14-time champions are comfortable in Group C of the competition.
