Real Madrid have reportedly turned down the chance to acquire N’Golo Kante from Chelsea on a free transfer next summer.
The 31-year-old midfielder will be able to begin pre-contract discussions with clubs outside of the Premier League in January in order to clinch a move when his Blues contract expires in June.
The west Londoners have the option to extend his stay at Chelsea at any moment if the France international agrees. If the Blues decide to approve Kante’s departure, they could either recoup a modest fee in January and relinquish his services for the rest of the season, or they could let him leave on a free transfer at the conclusion of the season.
According to Defensa Central, Madrid were offered the opportunity to sign Kante but turned it down.
Paris Saint-Germain are one of the several clubs who have been heavily linked with a deal for Kante in recent months. It was announced in March that the £13 million-rated midfielder turned down the French giants’ approach in January.
Kante was reported to have resisted calls from Mauricio Pochettino’s side and has been subjected to multiple approaches. According to the French outlet Le Parisien, club officials tried to persuade Kante to make the switch to Paris at a time when the team was dealing with an injury crisis at Cobham.

He has only played 175 minutes this season after being out since Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in August due to hamstring and knee injuries.
As a result, the two-time Premier League champion lost the chance to assist his country in retaining the World Cup in Qatar after they defeated England and advanced to back-to-back semifinals.
