Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool contract expires on June 30. For the majority of the season, it was anticipated that he would sign a free agent contract with Real Madrid.
All parties involved have not, however, announced an agreement, and a number of reports and developments have raised the possibility of a U-turn.
That followed Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who were also scheduled to become free agents at the conclusion of the season, extending their contracts at Anfield.
Since then, the Reds have reportedly made a last-ditch attempt to persuade the right-back to stay.
The rumors have also been influenced by the strong indications that Real Madrid is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti as manager, with Xabi Alonso being the clear favorite to do so, reports Team Talk.
But according to a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano via his YouTube account, there is no good news for Liverpool.
“The deal for Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is at the final stages.
Just waiting for the formal steps, just waiting to sign all the contracts, just waiting to complete all the documents.” Says Fabrizio Romano
